Who Is Corinne Van Kampen?

Corinne is a certified reiki master, certified iridologist, and certified shamanic healer based in Canada who works with clients in person and at a distance. She's also a cancer survivor who has almost died twice and is very much still here on purpose.

Her approach is holistic β€” meaning she looks at the whole person. Mind, body, energy, spirit. And she brings a toolkit to that whole person that most coaches and healers aren't combining the way she does.

Reiki. Crystals. Chakra balancing. Shamanic healing. Iridology β€” which is an analysis of the eyes that gives her insight into what's going on in the body. And she connects with her clients' spirit guides the night before their appointment so she already knows what they actually need before they even walk through the door.

I know. I know. Just stay with me.

They Think They Know What They Need. They Usually Don't.

This was one of the first things Corinne said that made me sit up straight.

People come to her for reiki. And then they end up in a shamanic healing session. Or they come thinking they need crystals and she can sense their energy isn't ready for that yet and redirects them to something gentler first.

Because Corinne isn't just a practitioner doing the same thing to every person who shows up. She's reading the room. She's reading the energy. She's already talked to your guides. And she's customizing everything to what you actually need β€” not what you think you need.

Nobody gets the same treatment. Nobody gets the generic version. It's a completely different approach than walking into a wellness appointment where someone hands you a meal plan and sends you on your way.

Your Energy Is Leaking. Everywhere.

This part of the conversation hit me so hard I started mentally retracing my whole day.

Corinne talks about energetic protection as a non-negotiable daily practice. Not because the world is full of bad people trying to drain you β€” but because people around us consciously and unconsciously take our energy all the time. Events drain us. Conversations drain us. Even things we witness can drain us.

And most of us have no framework for getting any of it back.

She teaches every single client how to ground and protect their energy before they leave the house. And she says once you start doing it you will absolutely notice the days you forget. Because you'll hit a wall. You'll be inexplicably exhausted. You'll wonder why you can't lift your head off the pillow.

That's where your energy went. Out into the world. And nobody taught you how to call it back.

I shared my own practice here β€” this thing I learned a while back where I imagine sending out little umbilical cords to everyone and everything I gave energy to during the day and then using a visualization like a vacuum to pull it all back in. Calling my energy home. And Corinne just nodded along like yes. That's exactly it.

The good news? Protecting your energy doesn't take hours. Once you learn how Corinne says it takes a couple of minutes. And the universal energy you use for it isn't even yours β€” it's not your personal energy you're spending. It's the energy that's just there, available, abundant.

Which is also why Corinne doesn't get depleted after seeing multiple clients in a day. She's usually flying. Because she's not giving away her own energy. She's channeling universal energy through her. And if a client doesn't need it or can't receive it... it flows back to her. Pure. Clean. Positive.

I mean. That's a whole different way of thinking about giving.

What Happens on the Table

For anyone wondering what a session with Corinne actually feels like β€” she paints a really beautiful picture.

You arrive. You talk. She listens and picks up on cues you might not even be consciously sharing. She grounds you before anything else happens. And then depending on what she's sensing you need you might end up with crystals on your body while she talks you through what she's picking up... or you might lie quietly and just notice what comes up β€” what you hear, what you smell, what you feel.

Yes smell. She's had clients smell things during sessions that have real significance. And she always encourages people to pay attention to what's coming up β€” not just in the session but in the 24 to 48 hours afterwards. Because that's often when the biggest shifts happen. When you're back in your life and the work she started has had time to settle in and move things around.

And then she follows up. She doesn't just close the studio door and say goodbye and never think about you again. She checks in. She answers texts. She helps you decode what's coming up as the healing continues working on you.

That follow up piece is something clients are consistently surprised by. They don't expect the support to extend beyond the appointment. And it does.

The Other Big Surprise β€” Other People Change Too

This one I wasn't expecting and I love it.

Corinne said one of the things clients are most surprised by is noticing shifts in the people around them. Not because those people have changed. But because the client has shifted and is now showing up differently in the dynamic.

The person who was always on their case at work doesn't suddenly become a different human. But the client's reaction to them changes. Their nervous system isn't as activated. They don't take the bait the way they used to. And over time... the dynamic shifts.

She said it's the ripple effect. The domino effect. When you do the work on yourself the energy around you changes. And the people in your life start responding to a different version of you.

Sometimes they don't even know why. They just notice you're different. Calmer. Less reactive. Not quite the same person you were before. And usually in a way they can't quite put their finger on but can definitely feel.

The WTF Wheel Question: When Was the Last Time You Surprised Yourself With How Far You've Come?

Oh this one. This one was quiet and beautiful and I wasn't ready for it.

Corinne shared that a few weeks before we recorded this episode she was at an event talking to someone she'd never met. That person asked her about herself. And as Corinne started answering... she realized how much she's actually lived.

Where she's been in the world. Who she's met. Who she's influenced. The cancer she survived. The trauma she's moved through. And she's not just surviving any of it anymore. She's thriving.

The woman she was talking to said... you should write a memoir. You've had a pretty cool life.

And a few years ago Corinne said she would have responded with... have I?

But this time she thought... I sure as hell have.

That shift. From I don't know if my life is worth telling to I absolutely know it is. That's the whole thing. That's what this work does. Quietly. Over time. Without you even noticing until someone asks you a question at an event and you realize you're a completely different person than you used to be.

She said it doesn't have to be the big stuff either. Cancer. Near death. Major loss. It can be all the small things woven together. The little shifts. The quiet changes. The moments that accumulate into a life that is β€” in her words β€” well lived.

What Wellness Me Up Means to Corinne

She got a visual. A woman walks into a saloon. Walks right up to the bar. And instead of ordering something that's going to numb her out... she looks at everything on the shelf and says...

Set me up. But make it wellness.

Fill my cup with nourishment. With balance. With clarity. With gratitude. With all the things that help me keep thriving instead of just surviving.

And the bar is different for everyone. The menu is different for everyone. But the asking... the walking up and saying this is what I need... that's the hardest part for most of us.

And that's where Corinne comes in.

Why She Does This Work

Before I hit end record Corinne shared something that I want to make sure doesn't get lost.

She didn't get into this work just because of her own health wake up call. She got into it because a complementary approach to wellness is what saved her life. She made friends during her cancer journey who didn't make it. She has almost died twice.

And she is still here.

There is a reason she is still here. And that reason is to help people. To show them the shelf. To help them figure out what to order. To walk alongside them while they learn how to take care of their own energy so they can stop just surviving and start actually thriving.

We are all supposed to be thriving. Every single one of us. And that's what Corinne believes with her whole heart.
